• Set during christmas which is a common subgenre of romantic comedies, to set the film during a holiday
• Voiceover of the main protagonist
• Shots from the film revealing some narrative of the main protagonists falling in love
• Cut screens is a typical editing technique that can be found in romantic comedy films
• The christmas soundtrack playing in the background is to reflect the lightheartedness of the genre and emphasize the joyous romantic holiday
• The title - 'Love Hard' - includes the word love which is the main theme in romance. It is also written in lowercase letters which is usually only found in romantic comedies
• A second love interest is shown during the trailer, which is a common character type in romantic comedies
