• Film name - 'Status Update' - is the reason the protagonists got together. Also written in lowercase which is common in romantic comedies
• Upbeat pop music reflects the genre
• References to producer's other successful romantic comedy film - 'Set It Up'
• References to the writer's other successful romantic comedy film - '17 Again'
