Romantic Comedy - Character Types

After doing my research, I have found that the main character types in romantic comedies could include:

The best friend (sidekick/confidante). The main characters usually both have a best friend that they share all their information with and turn to for advice. 

A second love interest is sometimes present in a romantic comedy. They are usually the obstacle that the main characters would have to overcome in order to be together. Usually the main character would already be in a relationship with the second love interest, before falling in love and ending up with the main character. 

The main protagonists that fall in love. 

The 'mean girls' or the jocks.

Supportive family or strangers to motivate the main character.
