Analysing Reviews in Trailers and Posters

I am going to be creating at least one trailer that will contain reviews of my film alongside a poster that may also contain reviews and star ratings. To get a better idea of the form film reviews take, the type of language used in film reviews, and an idea of the types of publications that produce film reviews, I am going to look at a number of trailers and posters from existing films from my genre to help me create my own reviews.

  • associate with romantic comedy genre - 'hilarious' and 'heartfelt'
  • comes out in summer - typical of romantic comedy genre
  • magazines, publications - cosmopolitan, total film, more - target female audience

  • encourages you to watch movie - 'coolest' 'of the year'

  • references to genre - 'very romantic', 'very comedy'
  • encourages you to watch film - 'don't even consider missing out' 'unmissable'
  • feminine references - 'scrumptious' 'magical' 'glorious' 'pure cinema joy'

  • references to genre - 'rom coms are back!!!' 'sexy and steamy' 'electrifying chemistry'
  • encourages you to watch film - 'it was everything' 
  • publications from women
  • feminine references - 'fabulous, fantastic, fun'
  • publications - 'fox tv' 'woman magazine' 'capital fm'
